No. 1 resort

Porto Sani Village in Halkidiki in Greece is for me the number 1 resort for the child friendly, luxe factor. This is one of a group of hotels in a large glistening shiny resort. Porti sani village, for me is the best as it has a more villagey feel rather than a towering hotel block feel. This place is all about excellent service, sincere smiles, superb food, fantastic childcare and the main thing is you come back relaxed (even with small children). From the moment you enter, you feel like you are in club class… a complimentary cocktail of your choice (always champagne for me) by the pool while signing those annoying forms at the beginning of a stay. The rooms are immaculate (maybe too cream for my 22month old) and  have 1 bedroom, separate (closed off) living area and a garden.  A microwave can be borrowed and all the baby essentials eg steriliser etc, plus there is a big enough fridge for extras. There is a central lagoon area with a fab children’s pool ( warm, shallow and big) with free inflatables and surrounding loungers to keep a beady eye. There is also an adult only pool (after dropping kids to kids club) which is huge, delicious, v inviting and practically empty and surrounded by loungers with the best lounger mattresses i have ever laid on. There is a private beach past the marina, 5 mins walk with towels, shallow entry to sea, golden sand and friendly staff. The kids loved the beach but absolutely loved the kids pool. All the staff are soooo child friendly. even in the restaurants in the swanky marina. We left one table cloth and a restaurant demolished by choc ice cream (i blame my husband!). The marina is packed with upmarket and casual restaurants ( sea you up (nobu like), tomato (fancy greek), macaroni (lush Italian), Ergon (new wonderful greek tapas). As you know food is critical for me and this place exceeds expectations for holiday cuisine.  Also, there are these great white buggys that will take you from breakfast to kids club or beach etc (kids loved them). The kids club over 4 yrs is free for stints of 3 hrs and the creche is fab (bit more expensive) but safe and had some amazing staff (we wanted to take one such child miner home with us as she was so good). Also you can get babysitters for the evening, who are often from the kids club. Finally, it is the attention to detail of this place that makes this place truly special (yummy chocs by the bed, regular house keeping, everyone knows your name (occasionally disconcerting), free sunset cruises, manned play table at breakfast for the kids…… Go try it and you will return year after year (ps not cheap but worth it for that one big holiday of the year).
